LAAI AWARDS LIfE MEMBERSHIP

Eric Bacon and Bryce Peck Recognized Posthumously

During the LAAI Annual Membership Meeting held December 1, 2021, Past Presidents Eric Bacon and Bryce Peck were both awarded Life Membership in the LAAI posthumously for their long-time support and dedication to the chapter.

Eric Bacon, who was completing his term as chapter president when the pandemic struck lost his battle with COVID on December 29, 2020.  During his LAAI Membership, Eric served on the LAAI Board of Directors, and subsequently on the Chapter Executive Team.  During his tenure in a leadership role, Eric was committed to the sucess of the chapter and supported its mission to provide valuable training to the membership and the fire investigation community. His contributions to the chapter helped ensure the long-term success of the organization and were worthy of recognition with Life Membership.

Bryce Peck was a long-time member of the LAAI who was tragically lost to a heart attack on January 17, 2021.  During his LAAI Membership, Bryce served on the LAAI Board of Directors and the Chapter Executive Team.  Bryce served two terms as chapter president and then continued to serve on the Executive Team in the position as Southern Vice President. Bryce was committed to the success of the chapter and was instrumental in the planning and implementation of chapter training events throughout his tenure in a leadership role.  His contributions to the chapter helped ensure the long-term success of teh organization and were worthy of recognition with Life Membership.

Both Eric Bacon and Bryce Peck made a lasting impression on the chapter membership and were taken way before their time.  Their unwavering commitment to the LAAAI membership and the success of its training events helped improve the fire investigation capabilities of members across the state.  They will be truly missed but their legacy will continue to live on!

To recognize the contributions Eric and Bryce made to the LAAI, the chapter voted unanomously to rename our annual training conference as the "Eric Bacon Memorial Training Conference" and our southern training day as the "Bryce Peck Memorial Training Day."
