Eric Bacon, who was completing his term as chapter president when the pandemic struck lost his battle with COVID on December 29, 2020. Eric was a longtime member of public service, having served in both law enforcement and fire service positions during his career. At the time of his passing, Eric was the supervisor of the Jefferson Parish Fire Department, Fire Investigation Unit.
During his LAAI Membership, Eric served on the LAAI Board of Directors, and subsequently on the Chapter Executive Team. During his tenure in a leadership role, Eric was committed to the sucess of the chapter and supported its mission to provide valuable training to the membership and the fire investigation community. His contributions to the chapter helped ensure the long-term success of the organization and he was recognized posthumously with Life Membership.
Additionally, in 2021 the chapter voted to designate the annual training event as the Eric Bacon Memorial Training Conference.
